The Mentalist Series Finale Review: The Perfect Wedding

It was the series finale of The Mentalist and where do I begin? Let’s start with a personal note… I’ve watched The Mentalist from the very beginning and was almost immediately hooked. It had an intriguing story and engaging characters from the start.

The Mentalist was also one of the very first shows that I began reviewing here at TV Fanatic so it has a very special place in my heart. It’s always sad when one of your favorite shows ends, but I much prefer to, as Jane said to Lisbon in the end, look at the bright side.

Thanks to a devoted fan base, CBS gave us this final season to wrap the show up properly with The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 12 and The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 13 did not disappoint.

Before we got to the good parts, because who wasn’t waiting for the wedding, we had to deal with one last serial killer. Lazarus was truly creepy. He kept his father’s corpse in the basement and wanted Jane to help him connect with Dad in the great beyond. He also stole blood from the people he killed in order to perform some kind of bonding ritual with dear old Dad. Oh, and did I fail to mention that Dad was most likely also a serial killer?

Watching the team try and figure out exactly what the stolen blood was for was fun, as everything from Satanic rituals to vampires were mentioned. As Jane pointed out in this The Mentalist quote

Well he is stealing blood from a corpse. He's got to be doing something weird with it.

Patrick Jane

Wiley really stepped up as he stood his ground and pointed out to Abbott and Cho that checking out the occult book store was something Jane would do. That doing the usual thing will get the usual results. Wiley’s coming into his own and it was a great moment when Cho smacked him upside the head and asked him to stay on his team.

I was grateful that we got to see Jane in his “psychic” mode one last time, simply because it’s always entertaining watching Jane read people so well. But the moment the house blew up, I figured that Lazarus was still alive. I wouldn’t have minded if he were dead in that explosion but I knew that was far too easy.

Teresa was terrified as she ran up to the house. She truly feared Patrick was dead inside and she got a bit of a taste of the fear that Jane’s been carrying around with him for quite a while.

There were several great relationship moments between Patrick and Teresa in these two hours. First off, Teresa came out and asked Patrick about his wedding ring and I was so proud of her for doing so. They’ve been together for a while now and she had every right to ask the question.

Are you going to take off your wedding ring? It just, it seems like you don't want to let go of it.

Teresa Lisbon

The question alone seemed to push Jane to take a closer look at why he continued to wear it and what it meant to him. It was a connection to his past but now he wanted to look towards the future. And that’s when, as they sat near his beautiful, little cabin in the woods, he asked Teresa to marry him.

It was a moment kept simple. “I want you to be my wife. Will you marry me?” And Teresa looked completely awe struck as she told him yes. It was equally sweet when Patrick admitted to being nervous about her answer…

Teresa Lisbon: You knew I was going to say yes.
Patrick Jane: Even after all these years you're still a mystery to me.

Then the fun began as Lisbon went from deciding on a wedding with just the two of them, to her brothers coming, to just a few friends and then before she knew it Abbott had hired a caterer and she was completely overwhelmed.

One of the most wonderfully unexpected scenes was Lisbon asking Cho to come along to help her pick out a dress. Leave it to Cho to be brutally honest and his commentary was priceless as he described each individual look, “Makes you look short.” “Snow cone,” and then there was the “slutty Elvis” look. I don’t think I’ve ever loved Cho more.

Back at the FBI, Abbott talked to Jane about his future. If Jane plans to leave the FBI, then they have some legal matters to wrap up and I was thankful that they brought up that fateful napkin contract they’d written out so long ago. But Jane wasn’t sure what he wanted yet…

Jane: I can't do this job forever but it's going to be hard to give up.
Abbott: Yeah, it's hard giving up making a difference.
Jane: No, everyone makes a difference. Hard to give up the chase.

Then he played Abbott like a fiddle and got him to admit that Lazarus was still alive. It was only a matter of time before someone called in a tip on the man. He was wandering around town looking like a character from The Walking Dead.

The saddest moment was when Dan Glover was killed. In his interview with Jane, he admitted to recently having a baby girl. All I could think as he was being stabbed to death was how he’ll never get to watch her grow up.

Lazarus being alive and out to get Jane was the perfect reason to change wedding plans once again and Teresa was pushing towards eloping…

Patrick Jane: What about your family?
Teresa Lisbon: Oh they wouldn't care. I just talked to them at the hotel. They found the mini bar. They're like cavemen arguing over a dead antelope.

I also loved that we got to see Lisbon with her family one last time and of course Rigsby and Grace being their to help celebrate was a special treat.

In the end the wedding was perfect. The bride wore off-white and carried a gun in order to take down a serial killer. Then she exchanged the gun for a bouquet and it was time to tie the knot!

You see how much better things turn out when you're honest with me.

Teresa Lisbon

Teresa looked beautiful in her simple, elegant dress and of course Patrick was handsome, but what stood out the most was that the two couldn’t stop smiling. I don’t think they’ve ever looked so happy in all seven seasons. And the final moment when Teresa revealed to Patrick that she was pregnant was a truly sweet surprise and one I didn’t see coming. After all of the horror he's survived, Patrick Jane finally has his chance at a fresh start and real happiness with the woman he loves.

I want to thank all of The Mentalist fans out there who have read my reviews and round tables over the years. You’ve been amazing and sharing this show with you has been my pleasure. For those who are upset that the show has completed its run I have only one bit of advice. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.

And please check back here on Monday for our final The Mentalist round table and then later next week as I submit my report card for The Mentalist Season 7

As always, you can watch The Mentalist online right here at TV Fanatic.

The Mentalist Round Table: A Happy Ending

Can someone pass the tissues? We still haven't gotten over the final episode of The Mentalist.

For those of us who have watched from the beginning, it was one Hell of a ride, as the team took down one last serial killer before Jane and Lisbon embarked on a bright new future.

Below TV Fanatics Robin Harry and Christine Orlando are joined by The Mentalist fans from Twitter, @Nerwen_Aldarion, @EntwifeIncognit, Grace @pinkishk1ss and @emilynthephoto to debate the happy ending, discuss a possible spinoff and talk about Jane and Lisbon’s future after The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 13...

The Mentalist Round Table 1-27-15

Were you happy with the way the series wrapped up?

Robin: Yes. I have absolutely no problems with a happily-ever-after ending, and I believe that these characters deserved that. I also loved how it came full circle. The series started with a serial killer that targeted Jane because of his fake psychic act, with Jane and Lisbon working together to find them. However, their working together was dysfunctional because Jane was constantly dishonest and Lisbon couldn't count on him.

The series ends with a serial killer who was also targeting "psychic" Jane. However, this time, Jane and Lisbon catch the guy because they are completely in sync and honest with each other, and therefore much more effective as a team. I'm glad that Patrick and Teresa are happy, I'm glad they're starting a family, and I'm glad that Patrick found a way to enjoy his life and his job. I'm satisfied.

@Nerwen_Aldarion:  I was very happy with the ending, it was a true love letter to the fans and the shippers.

@EntwifeIncognit:  Loved the whole finale! Suspenseful case, and the wedding preparations worked in well. All the kisses we’ve been waiting for with Jane and Lisbon finally looking like a normal couple in love. And the romantic comedy parts were very funny. I never dreamed that Simon Baker would write the perfect pregnancy scene!

Grace @pinkishk1ss:  I think it was the perfect wrap up in the sense that it has accomplished a full circle for the characters from both their professional and personal life aspect. Jane was once a family man who came into the show losing his wife and child, circling within the darkness with no life purpose other than vengeance. He left the show with a wife and child, again become the family man who has found light and a purpose to live. Lisbon was once a happy child (see young Teresa's graffiti) until her family tragedy, but in the end she somewhat gets the happy ending almost like her graffiti drawing. A complete circle for both - I am immensely happy.

@emilynthephoto:  Yes, I think, like many, I had a vision of how I wanted it to be. I wanted it to end with a flash forward, but I think I loved this even better because it left it open for the fans to interpret or for maybe a reunion movie in the future.

Christine:  Loved it. These character came from such a dark place and lived through so much emotional torture and angst. It was wonderful to see them not only survive all of that but also finally get their own happy ending. It’s a message about never giving up, no matter how dark things seem.

Would you watch a spinoff from The Mentalist and, if so, what character(s) would you like to see on it?

Robin: As much as I would love to see the adventures in family life of Jane and Lisbon, I think I could only watch that in the context of the show as it is. I don't think I could watch a spinoff. I think what made The Mentalist great was the sum of its parts, and I don't think a spinoff would be quite as dynamic or fascinating to watch.

@Nerwen_Aldarion:  I definitely would! I'd love to see one with Cho and Wiley getting into trouble LOL!

@EntwifeIncognit:  A spin-off would be hard to imagine. With Cho and Wylie I’d give it a try. But it would sink or swim on its own merits because my loyalties are with Patrick Jane, not the other characters.

Grace @pinkishk1ss:  Lisbon has been very good at reading people these days and I totally picture her to continue working in law enforcement catching bad guys. Seeing Lisyschic has truly been a delight for me and I thought her character being the Female Mentalist generates a very unique sense of humor. Besides, she has the perfect coach at home who can back her up anytime, even if that means distracting him from his house-husband duty. So, The Mentalisbon for my spinoff.

@emilynthephoto:  I think I would if it was done right. Obviously, I'd love it to be Jane and Lisbon and it would be like a modern day The Thin Man, but I think that's highly unlikely. I think the Lisbon family should have their own show. They have captivated me from the very start and it is perfectly cast.

Christine:  Kimball Cho is such an original character. I’d love to see Cho and his team continue their work. I think he’s got a great working relationship with Wiley and I’d definitely watch if that continued.

Other than Jane and Lisbon, who was your favorite pair on the show (platonic or romantic)?

Robin: If we're talking in this episode, it would be Cho and Wiley - their handshake at the occult shop was hilarious, and the slap Cho gave Wiley later on killed me.  In the entire run of the show, it would be Cho and Rigsby. Those two had such contrasting personalities, but such a good bromance, and it brought out the best in Cho's sardonic one-liners.

@Nerwen_Aldarion:  The bromances between Cho and Rigsby then Cho and Wiley for sure. And of course the fascinating relationship between Jane and Red John

@EntwifeIncognit:  The Lisbon brothers, hands down! I felt sorry for them, hurt from feeling they weren’t wanted at the wedding. They were so rowdy and funny and so embarrassing to their big sister, just like they should be. I loved that they were fighting like cavemen over the contents of the mini-bar. I could totally see it. And Jimmy’s loud new fiancee, just classic.

Grace @pinkishk1ss:  Can I say that other than Jane and Lisbon I have a multidirectional ship with the rest? I literally ship everyone with everyone but okay my most heartwarming one is Cho and Lisbon. They knew each other the longest and stuck with one another from day 1 until the end. Both characters have gradually evolved throughout 7 seasons and those elements translate directly into their dynamic. It was truly heart-melting to watch the two's unique, subtle bond, especially the Chisbon moment at this finale. Not to mention their role reversal feels so natural.

@emilynthephoto:  Chigsby. There’s your spin-off. A comedy buddy cop show. I’d watch it. I ship it.

Christine:  I loved Abbott and Jane. They had such respect for one another that I found all of their interactions this season a delight to watch.

Did you have a favorite story line or episode from the entire run of the show?

Robin:  My favorite episode ever would be The Mentalist Season 5 Episode 2, “Devil's Cherry” It was a fantastic episode because it was simultaneously fun and tragic.  It was one of the best insights we got into Patrick Jane's character, because through his hallucinations of his daughter, we saw how incredibly conflicted he was, and what he thought of himself. We saw the struggle between his drive to catch Red John and his doubts and disappointments about his quest. Back then it was also the best and clearest glimpse of how he felt about Lisbon.

@Nerwen_Aldarion:  I had favorite episodes like The Mentalist Season 3 Episode 23, “Strawberries & Cream” but mostly I loved the series as a whole. A long beautiful tale of revenge then redemption.

@EntwifeIncognit:  Leaving the growth of Jisbon aside, I’d choose an episode, “Devil’s Cherry” from season five. I loved trying to figure out what Jane’s hallucinations really meant. The relationship with his young adult daughter was touching and so real, poignant, funny, painful. Getting an inside view of Jane as a father made him all the more lovable and tragic.

Grace @pinkishk1ss:  There's a lot but I really love the Lisbon's family backstory. It really opens up who she was and what makes the current strong woman Teresa Lisbon is. Her equally complex character and background tell us that she was just as broken as Jane and that gave us better insights on to how/why this two became soulmates and is perfectly made for each other. And just the idea of seeing a different side of her was truly a gift.

@emilynthephoto:  I've enjoyed every episode and every storyline, but The Mentalist Season 6 Episode 9,  "My Blue Heaven" is special to me because it meant that the show wasn’t over and it also gave the opportunity for Jane to find redemption, peace, and love. It was the catalyst for every good thing we saw happen for him afterward. I think we all hope that we can be released from the ills inside us.

Christine:  There was so much to love but the one episode that left quite an impression was The Mentalist Season 4 Episode 7, “Blinking Red Light” where Jane literally set up one serial killer to take out another serial killer. When Jane realized they couldn’t stop Panzer, he got Panzer to arrogantly taunt Red John on live TV, much the same way Jane did himself years before. Back then, the result was the death of Jane’s own family. This time, it was the one sure way to stop Panzer.

If you could write Jane and Lisbon’s future, how do you see it play out?

Robin: I see Jane and Lisbon being fantastic parents. Jane, already knowing that he doesn't want to work at the FBI his whole life, chooses to be a stay-at-home dad for the first few years while Lisbon returns to the FBI. However, when their child gets old enough to go to school, Patrick gets bored and goes back to doing part-time consultation for the bureau. I also see Patrick teaching the kid tons of tricks that drive Teresa nuts.

@Nerwen_Aldarion:  They prepare for the baby together with Lisbon taking a little time off. Then Jane scales back his time at the FBI to take care of the baby but still works occasionally. They grow old happy together.

@EntwifeIncognit:  I would have the Janes leave law enforcement, grow their family in that idyllic, pastoral setting that Jane is making. When not vacationing on Jane’s stashed wealth, they’d spend lots of time under starlight on that upholstered log, developing a nimble and acrobatic side to their lovemaking.

Grace @pinkishk1ss:  First, I would write them going for a short honeymoon around the world - just Jane showing Lisbon what the world with infinite possibilities look like. A world of sailboats and all the adventures she's been missing in life. Then she would come back to the FBI with a different eye and a rejuvenated soul. They would both raise their kid with unlimited wisdom and continue making a difference for the world.

@emilynthephoto:  I would like to see them have a son, build a life at their little rustic shack. They would probably scale back from the FBI, Jane more so than Lisbon at first, but then eventually sort become a private/freelance detective team a la Nick and Nora Charles.

Christine:  I’m with Robin. I see Patrick cutting back to part-time consultant, only coming back to work on key cases as his main job is now stay-at-home dad. Lisbon, after takings some time off after the baby, goes back to work to continue to take down the bad guys. And they live happily ever after.

Was there anything that disappointed you about the two-hour finale?

Robin: The only thing that disappointed me about the two-hour finale is that it was, in fact, a finale.  This season was solid, and I'm going to miss this show terribly.

@Nerwen_Aldarion:  It ended, I never wanted the show to leave.

@EntwifeIncognit:  Yes, a little. We didn’t hear Lisbon call Jane, Patrick, in their private, romantic world. We didn’t get to see them dance at their wedding. That was hard. And, it was unclear at the end what they would each do about working in law enforcement.

Grace @pinkishk1ss: I was expecting them to have personalized wedding vows where they both deliver a heart to heart speech for one another, just on top of the conventional "I do". But heck, all other things were truly magical that my craving for this doesn't even matter anymore!

@emilynthephoto: NO!! Actually, the only thing disappointing was the void that set in when the lights went dim. And I might be a teensy bit bitter that Virgil Minelli wasn't even given a shout out. I love that man to pieces. But, I'm over it.

Christine:  Honestly, I really enjoyed it from beginning to end. We got serial killer suspense, Jane in his “psychic” role once again and a romantic happy ending for all.

What was your favorite scene from The Mentalist finale?

Robin: Oh my gosh, this is an impossible question. I think I'll go with everything after they said their vows and were man & wife. The constant grins on their faces, and the random moments where Patrick would embrace Teresa and lift her up - it was so heartwarming to see how happy he was, after knowing how broken he had been. Then the look on Patrick's face when he realizes Lisbon was pregnant - beautiful.

@Nerwen_Aldarion:  Cho and Lisbon picking out wedding dresses and then the last five minutes with Lisbon holding a gun in her gown and the wedding, then the final surprise.

@EntwifeIncognit:  The proposal scene. Jane’s already taken off his ring because, matter-of-factly, “I’m not married.” Such a Jane thing to say and do once he’d decided. Lisbon’s reaction: From no clue, to what? are you?, to astonishment to joy. Beautifully played. Close second, Cho wedding dress shopping with Lisbon. He could make a good living and provide such needed relief to brides-to-be.

Grace @pinkishk1ss:  The last scene definitely, thanks to Simon for writing this. Lisbon giving Jane the last piece to complete his full circle of life - which is a child. The scene was very fragile, tender, heart melting, tear jerking all at once. Bravo to Simon and Robin, they both glow like the happiest fairy tale characters ever existed in history of fictions. It was a truly satiating moment. My favorite scene of all time of all shows.

@emilynthephoto:  The final scene. They could have done it in a way that I originally needed the final image to be, but that’s been done before so many times. They took this sort of cliche moment, played with the dialogue, performed it perfectly to the characters, made it quiet and put it at the end of a series. That is how you make smart television. Thank you Simon Baker.

Christine:  The end. Everyone just looked so darn happy and the baby was just the icing on the wedding cake. I couldn’t stop smiling.

The Mentalist Season 7 Report Card: Grade It!

$

We can’t believe it’s over. The Mentalist Season 7 was just 13 episode long, but we were thrilled to watch every installment for this final season.

Which was the best episode, most pivotal moment and most surprising twist? Which pairing had the best bromance this season? Read on to relive all of the wonderful moments from The Mentalist Season 7.

Best Episode:  The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 13, “White Orchid”  - After years of darkness and angst, Jane and Lisbon finally figured it out. They were open and honest with one another and as Lisbon told Jane as Lazarus was captured and he switched out her gun for a bouquet, “You see how much better things turn out when you're honest with me.” From catching their final serial killer to a romantic wedding surrounded by family and friends, it was the finale that made The Mentalist fans every where swoon.

Most Disappointing Moment:  It was never really one episode but a string of missed moments where we wanted see more physical contact between Jane and Lisbon. A kiss, a hug, a touch. From Jane saving her life in “The Greybar Hotel” to them being their for one another after Vega’s funeral. We craved the moments of affection between these two that we never got to see until the very end.

Best Change:  We found out in The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 1 “Nothing But Blue Skies” that Agent Kim Fischer had moved on. We didn’t hate Agent Fischer but she never seemed to fit in during The Mentalist Season 6 so we have to admit, we were glad to see her go.

Most Pivotal Episode:The Mentalist 7 Episode10, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” - She was introduced as the annoyingly over-eager rookie who looked down upon Patrick Jane’s unorthodox methods. Several episodes in we’d really developed an affection for Michelle Vega. That’s why her death hit us and the team so hard. Wiley mourned the girl he’d finally found the courage to ask out, Cho suffered the loss of his trainee and Jane almost decided to leave the FBI all together. It was the episode that changed everything and put Jane and Lisbon’s future in question. It was dramatic, heartbreaking and unforgettable.

Best Character Return:  The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 3, “Orange Blossom ice Cream” brought back the unforgettable Erika Flynn played by Morena Baccarin. Not only did she immediately realize that Jane and Lisbon were now in a relationship, she tried to derail it to save herself, unsuccessfully of course. Although we weren’t thrilled with her tactics it we loved seeing her once last time.

Most Dramatic Moment:  The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 2, “The Greybar Hotel” We knew that Lisbon going undercover in prison was going to be good but it was when she and her cellmate broke out of prison that things got good.   almost getting shot after breaking out of prison. When Cole held a gun to Lisbon’s head, Jane looked positively ill.  We wondered if an unarmed Jane was going to have to sit back and watch his secret love be killed.  Instead he stepped into the fray and the two almost died together, until backup followed Jane’s trail of bottles and came to their rescue.

Best Bromance:  This one was tough. As much as we loved the relationship that formed between Cho and Wiley, it was Dennis Abbott and Patrick Jane who won for best bromance. From Abbott telling his wife that Jane was one of the most devious minds he’s ever worked with to him also admitting that he’d trust Jane with his life, these two formed a bond we hadn’t before witnessed. Despite wanting to throw him in prison when they first met, Abbott grew to respect and dare we say even love Patrick Jane and the feeling was mutual.

Funniest Moment: It’s a tie. There was the cat sitting on the money in Peterson’s house in The Mentalist Season 7 episode 9“Copper Bullet” and Lisbon singing a Bon Jovi lullaby to Jane in The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 8, “The Whites of Their Eyes” We just couldn’t choose.

Happiest Moment: Patrick Jane proposing to Teresa Lisbon. He took off his wedding ring and told Teresa how much she meant to him and that his future was with her. That moment, and the wedding that followed were the happiest moments of the series.

Most Surprising Twist:  We have to admit. We never saw it come until Lisbon smiled at Jane and put her hand over her stomach. A Jisbon baby. It was the most wonderful surprise that we didn’t see coming.

17 Hilarious Attempts at Hiding Pregnancies on TV

$

Sometimes actresses get pregnant, and writing it into the show is not always an option.

Instead, shows have to get creative and find ways to hide the pregnancies. This has been done numerous ways, from shooting only the neck up, having the actress mostly sitting, or plopping random objects in front of them.

Some of these shows legitimately tried to hide the pregnancies, while others opted to poke fun at the obvious baby bumps.

Check out our list of 17 of our favorite attempts to hide a pregnancy on TV!

1. Snow - Once Upon A Time

Snow once upon a time
Is she trying to hide a baby or did she just shoplift a tv? OUaT decided to write in Ginnifer Goodwin's pregnancy, but that only applied to Storybrook. The baby bump still had to be concealed for Snow's scenes in the Enchanted Forest, and they figured enormous cloaks were the way to go.

2. Amy - Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Amy brooklyn nine nine
Amy's usual pant suits were probably not the best way to hide a pregnancy, so Brooklyn Nine-Nine sent Jake and Amy on a cruise full of flowy Hawaiian shirts, giant purses, and hand rails to use to cover Melissa Fumero's growing baby bump!

3. Olivia - Scandal

Olivia scandal
Scandal came up with all kinds of ways to hide Kerry Washington's pregnancy including strategic use of lamps. Still, this one is funny because she's sitting on the floor when there's a perfectly comfortable couch right behind her. It is probably a good thing they ended the season early, because they were clearly running out of ideas!

4. Leslie - Parks and Recreation

Leslie parks and recreation
Not too many shows can say they used a time capsule to hide an actress's pregnancy, but Parks and Rec can! Leslie is holding all kinds of stuff in this picture, but was she supposed to be holding it a little lower? It's not exactly effective in hiding the bump.

5. Claire - Modern Family

Claire modern family
Julie Bowen was pregnant with twins when shooting the pilot for Modern Family, so producers had to get creative - hiding her belly behind laundry, blankets, etc. Apparently her family even made a drinking game out of watching the pilot and drank every time they did something to hide it!

6. Meredith/Lexie/Arizona - Grey's Anatomy

Meredith slash lexie slash arizona greys anatomy
Grey's had to go through this a few times. They shipped Arizona off to Africa for a couple of months, made Lexie "stress eat" and comment on the weight she was gaining, and had Meredith donate a portion of her liver to her father. At least Grey's can get away with baggy scrubs and large lab coats.

17 Men in Suits Who Make Us Swoon

Is it the man who makes the suit or the suit that makes the man? Either way, these characters certainly know how to wear one.

In a world that’s turned towards more casual-wear, there’s still nothing quite like a well dressed man in a suit.

Whether it's their career that dictates the suit or simply their personal choice, it’s clear that not all suits (or the men in them) are created equal.

Check out these 17 fine looking gentlemen who grace our TV screens in impeccable suits that make us swoon.

1. Harvey Specter - Suits

Harvey specter suits
Harvey's first words of advice to protoge, Mike Ross, was to go out and buy some real, well-fitted suits. “People respond to how we're dressed, so like it or not this is what you have to do.” Harvey is rarely without his business suits. They are custom tailored three-piece suits, generally pinstripes with flapped pockets, double vents, and wider peak lapels that accentuate those amazing shoulders. Harvey Specter is always handsome but it's his choice in suits that exudes power and confidence.

2. Patrick Jane on The Mentalist

Patrick jane the mentalist
Patrick Jane was rarely seen without his three piece suit over the seven season of The Mentalist. It was his signature look with the vest, no tie and usually in shades of blue. Why? The color blue is believed to convey a warm and trustworthy feeling. Getting people to trust him certainly made it easier for Jane to play his mentalist mind games…it also really brought out his blue eyes!

3. Agent Phil Coulson - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agent phil coulson agents of shield
It doesn't matter if he's fighting the bad guys from his office or in the jungle, Agent Coulson always wears his suit. The leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. can seem a little uptight but that's because he's a career government man. Coulson likes tradition and consistency. Showrunner Jed Whedon says “No matter what the situation, Coulson feels most at ease when in his suit.” And it shows!

4. Ricky Ricardo - I Love Lucy

Patrick jane the mentalist
In the 1950s, I Love Lucy was the biggest hit on TV and although many watched to see what Lucy wore, it was difficult to miss her handsome husband. Ricky rocked those broad-shouldered suit jackets with a V shape that was close on the hip, had straight fronts, and frequently a TV fold pocket square. The look was popular with the Big Band leaders of the time and rumor has it that many of Ricky's outfits came straight out of actor Desi Arnaz's closet.

5. Derek Morgan – Criminal Minds

Derek morgan criminal minds
Derek Morgan can be sensitive. Derek Morgan can be one badass cop. But as hot as this crime fighter looks in a tight t-shirt and a bullet proof vest, he's even more stunning in a suit. Take a look and just try and tell us we're wrong.

6. Rick Castle - Castle

Rick castle castle
Rick Castle wears a lot of button down shirts and blazers but it's on the rare occasion that we actually see Castle wearing a suit…and that's a darn shame because he is so damn handsome when he's dressed well! The show needs more special events so we can see Castle looking his absolute best more often.

17 Most Awesome Automobiles on TV

TV shows are defined by their premise, their characters and by the memorable vehicles they drive.

A car can tell us a lot about someone and the vehicles chosen for a show’s main character can speak volumes.

Whether they are practical or luxurious, these machines have captured audiences imaginations and aren’t easily forgotten.

Whether you covet the classics, wish for high-end performance or simply want a vehicle that will never quit, you can probably find it on TV.

Check out these 17 Awesome Automobiles that we simply can’t forget.

1. Lola - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Lola agents of shield
Don't touch Lola! LOLA officially stands for Levitating Over Land Automobile but it isn't so much the car's ability to fly or its hidden machine guns that make us swoon. It's the classic 1962 Chevrolet Corvette chassis that it’s built on that revs our engines. We'd happily drive it without all of the awesome super-power extras.

2. The General Lee - The Dukes of Hazzard

The general lee the dukes of hazzard
Cousins Bo and Luke Duke may have been a couple of good ol' boys but it was The General Lee that made them soar…literally. The 1969 Dodge Charger was named after Confederate General Robert E. Lee. It displayed the Confederate flag on the roof and its horn played the first 12 notes of the song “Dixie”. Not only was the Charger fast enough to outrun the law but it flew over many a creek bed and broken bridge without getting a scratch. Only on TV.

3. Citreon - The Mentalist

Citreon the mentalist
Patrick Jane drove a vintage French 1972 Citroen DS (20 or 21). The car had been used in the movie Speed Racer in 2008. Originally red, the car was painted eggshell blue for the show (Perhaps to match Jane's blue suits?) and was considered a homage to Columbo’s Peugeot 403.

4. KITT - Knight Rider

Kitt knight rider
KITT stands for Knight Industries Two Thousand and was designed by billionaire Wilton Knight who put the artificial intelligence he’d designed into a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. The car not only talked but helped fight crime with driver Michael Knight.

5. Red Ferrari - Castle

Red ferrari castle
Rick Castle has many toys but none are more coveted than his prized red Ferrari. Just ask detectives Kevin Ryan and Javier Esposito who are always hitting him up for driving privileges...but Rick seems more in awe of watching Kate Beckett behind the wheel than the car itself.

6. Gran Torino - Starsky & Hutch

Gran torino starsky and hutch
Starsky was originally slated to drive a Chevrolet Camaro convertible but it turned out the studio already had a deal in place with Ford which led to him driving the iconic red Gran Torino with the white stripe. Starsky & Hutch, which aired from 1975 to 1979, used Torinos ranging from 1974 to 1976 as the body style hadn't changed. But it was the show's main characters sliding over the hood as they chased after bad guys that made it all the more memorable.

19 TV Villains Sure to Haunt Your Dreams

TV shows are full of villains but not all of them live up to the name. The ones who made our list stepped it up a notch to become truly frightening.

Villains are a staple of television and practically every genre of small screen has them. We've rounded up some who really made their mark.

Check out these 19 most horrifying villains on TV if you dare. We take no responsibility for the nightmares you may have afterwards.

1. Tony Soprano - The Sopranos

Ramsay bolton game of thrones
Tony is the best kind of villain. The kind you can't help but love. He's a family man, a man with so many personal issues he sees a therapist. He's also a member of the mob, a thief, and a killer. We shouldn't love him, we should hate his very soul, but how can you hate a villain who puts family and animals first? Our dilemma is probably very similar to Tony's.

2. Norman Bates - Bates Motel

Norman struggles
Even if you don't know what he becomes, young Norman is frightening. Watching his dog get killed didn't devastate him, it drove him to taxidermy. He can fool a lie detector test and his mother. He even started dressing up in mom's clothes in order to blame her for his murders. Norman leaves us asking if evil is born or made.

3. The Borg - Star Trek: The Next Generation

The gentleman buffy the vampire slayer
"Resistance is futile." Join the collective. Anyone who watched TNG and didn't practically have a coronary when Jean-Luc Picard found himself as a Borg, his own worst enemy for a spell, really needs to rewatch. I still remeber sucking in my breath at that sight. What was really weird? I didn't hate the Borg any more than I hated the Cylons. That's good villainry.

4. The Reverse Flash - The Flash

Eugene tooms the x files
The Reverse Flash was a doppelganger (our favorite) who was on earth by mistake. The mistake meant he had to champion Barry Allen to attain all the greatness he ever would before he was ready. In order to do this, Eobard Thawne (the Reverse Flash) became Barry's mentor and friend, and unbeknownst to any, his most vile enemy. The agony at the bait and switch was incredibly moving and terribly vile.

5. Black Jack Randall - Outlander

Dr tredson american horror story
Outlander Played to excrutiating perfection by Tobias Menzies, Black Jack Randall seems put on the earth to make Claire and Jamie Fraser suffer. A Red Coat who wants his country to prevail, he's also eager to make Jamie pay for the sins of Scotland and all men because he himself cannot measure up. The pain and anger in Claire's eyes only fuels his passion for Jamie and Jamie's lament.

6. Gemma Teller - Sons of Anarchy

Gemma teller sons of anarchy
Remember when Gemma came across as a loving, protective mother and grandmother? Then we got to know her. We could write out a list of Gemma's crimes but we think bludgeoning her daughter-in-law to death with a carving fork in the sink and then lying about it and starting a murderous gang war tops that list.

$

0

Rick Castle wears a lot of button down shirts and blazers but it's on the rare occasion that we actually see Castle wearing a suit…and that's a darn shame because he is so damn handsome when he's dressed well! The show needs more special events so we can see Castle looking his absolute best more often.
